Issue 21 y2k – how we panick-ed. The world or at least the digital world was going to end as the computers who sent man into space were not going to be able to cope with 1999 flicking into 2000. There’s a precis from that Rome game, an article from a FC Hansa Rostock fan called Axel, foreign player shenanigans at Chelsea and Spurs, TV and sponsorship ruining football and a comparison between the then first team v Championship winning side. Issue 20 and party like it’s 1999 – not quite, colour front page but not all good news. The satellite TV company – yes they used to be called that! are well and truly taking over football, murmurings of a “European League” and prices are going up although the ground is selling out. We have Michael Bridges, but our style of football is very different to back to the goal Shearer-ites and the LUSC Annual Dinner is marred by some inconsiderate folk. The times definitely were a-changing when we headed into the new millenium…..

Issue 18, 1998. European football, foreign players destroying our beloved game, Premiership ID cards and THREE replica shirts per season! Madness. A good write up of the Charity Match between Liverpool and Leeds United supporter, Red All Over The Land v We Are Leeds, in aid of the Hillsborough Families Group and Leeds Infirmary Neonatal Unit. A timely reminder that there isn’t really that much animosity between Liverpool and Leeds fans. Something worth pondering over as we head to Anfield for Cup quarter finals.

Issue 17 last of the 97/98 season, another 20 pages of days gone by. The Young Guns riding high, The infamous quote “The only thing kids get you is relegated”, Champions League staring at us, Mr Murdoch thwarting us and O Leary telling us and Elsie Revie at the LUSC Annual Dinner how much he wants to emulate Don….

Issue 16, 1998 George Graham has left Leeds United for one of the toughest jobs in football according to the BBC – Spurs! Don’t get me wrong, he shored up our defence with Lucas, and I bet no one at the time could have predicted what an impact Radebe would be. He bought us Jimmy too, don’t forget.  I would always rather we won 1-0 but played boring football than lose playing well. Bring on Ridsdale at Rome, winking at us when the crowd asked who the next manager would be, pointing to the man on the TV screen, O Leary. Also included in this issue is a remarkable piece from Mr Depth Charge of the Mavericks no less! I’ll be bringing this and the savoury picture to the attention of Lord F imminently
